The Perkins Center

This year Jackson Reclaimed has chosen to donate all the proceeds from the art show to The Perkins Center. The organization strives to 'develop the lives of youth, leadership, and underprivileged in our community and around the world by setting an example of God's love to further his kingdom.' Activities, community, and mentorship through the Perkins Center provide people the opportunity to be immersed in friendships that reflect Christ's undying and unchanging love for his children-no matter how hurt, lost, or broken a person maybe, God has already graciously reclaimed their spirits.
The Perkins Center has a handful of ministries that need both financial and volunteer help. Just to name a couple:

The Voorhees Avenue Leadership House- in the fall of 2008, the Perkins Center opened the Harambee Men's House, which is dedicated to reaching out to college-aged young men. The program focuses on mentoring, teaching, and encourging these men through the course of their stay at the house. The men are encouraged to expand on their own sense of creativity through assigned business projects that target the West Jackson community. They are also paired with men, located in the Jackson area who have occupations, that will mentor them and help guide them in their gowth both spiritually and professionally. The young men in this program will experience accountability, reflection time with Dr. Perkins, friendships, and have the opportunity to purse the Lord and his will for their future in this ministry program. What an amazing opportunity for the chance to help raise up young, godly men, that will go forth and continue advancing the kingdom of God!

The Zechariah 8 House-centered around the scipture passage in the Bible, Zechariah 8:1-6, the Zechariah House is a continuous community project designed to make not just "livable" homes for parents with two or more children, but instead, much "nicer" homes for them. The homes are nestled in a community that is given the opportunity to pour in Christ's love and wisdom amongst eachother. The elderly are not sheltered in fear of slumlords. Their wisdom and values can be shared with the younger community in peace.

We are thrilled to help out The Perkins Center this year! And praise the Lord what He is doing through the ministry there!
